Salobrena (10,000 inhabitants) is an iconic village due to its location. It is located on a hill on the further flat coast off the Sierra Nevada, very unique. One side of the hill is so steep that nothing can be built on it. But the other side is packed with typical Spanish white houses. It is best to park at the bottom of the hill and go up on foot. Quite a climb, of course! However, the old Moorish castle offers a romantic view of the mountains and the coast, the Costa Tropical. In the old days, this came to good use thinking about potential pirate attacks from the sea.
Salobrena Costa
Next to the mountain where Salobrena Pueblo is located, you can enjoy a holiday on a lovely wide beach. The buildings along this beach are new construction and offer space for the many city people from Granada who want to stay on the coast for the weekend. Salobreña is in fact less than half an hour’s drive from the provincial capital and this seaside resort is the first town you encounter when you leave the highway. The straight beach has a long promenade, some comfortable chiringuitos and a lot of options for water recreation.
Salobreña Costa has a lot of agricultural land towards the interior and Motril due to the favorable climate, the flat location and the water supply from the Sierra Nevada / Alpujarras. For people who go on holiday in this place, the interior has of course a great added value. In addition to natural beauty, the mountains also offer a range of sports and leisure options. Think of skiing, horseback riding, mountain biking, abseiling, etc.
