Salobrena is a lovely village that’s beautifully situated on a hill on the flat coastline in front of the Sierra Nevada mountains. On one side the hill is so steep that you can’t build on it, but the other side seems ‘sprinkled’ with white plastered houses. You can best park on the foothill and then walk up, which is quite a walk, incidentally. On the top you find an old Moorish castle that offers great views over the surrounding area. Salobrena has its own beach but sadly there’s just modern high-rise development here.
After Salobrena you can leave the coast road and drive north over the highway towards Granada.
The market of Salobrena is on Tuesday morning. Taxi Salobrena tel. 958 610 926
