Tip Most tourists tip in the same way as they do at home. If you’re satisfied about the food and service you could leave about 5% on the table. Smaller amounts you simply round off. Personally we really think the tip should reflect your appreciation so don’t be afraid to leave nothing or a little more if you feel like it. Change is called ‘el cambio’ and the tip is ‘la propina’. 'Rebajas' means sales. Cash machines Spain of course has the euro and you find cash machines all over town. Mostly you can choose your own language. Some banks charge commissions but you can always abort. Mostly you need to confirm by pushing the green button. (continuar). In most shops and restaurants you can pay with Visa or Eurocard / Mastercard. They don’t always use the secret number but you need to sign just like it’s a credit card (and they want to see your ID). Always make sure the machine looks trustworthy and make sure nobody can see (or film) your details. Banks Banks (and post offices) are open from Monday to Friday until 14:00 hrs. Lost / theft wallet or bank cards Report theft: 0034 – 902 102 112 (you also need to go to the police) If you lose your passport or ID-card, contact you embassy as soon as possible. Euro/mastercard: 914 352 445 Visa: 914 352 445 American Express: 914 599 009 Diners Club 912 474 000 Suggestion: before you go on holiday just make a photocopy of all cards you have in your wallet (both sides because of the phone numbers!). |
