Appartments Everywhere in Nerja you can rent all types of accomodation for your holiday. Especially the east part of town - Capistrano - is popular. Capistrano Playa has beautiful views over Burriana Beach and is closest to town (this complex has just been renovated and in the past it has won prices for its beautiful architecture for the 130 different houses). The biggest part is Capistrano Village / Capistrano Pueblo and it has nice some cobbled streets. San Juan de Capistrano lies up-hill and offers great views over the town. Capistrano Oasis – at last - has tropical gardens and an old aqueduct. This whole area has a typical look of Andalusia. Because almost all apartments are second homes, you will find a great difference in the size and luxury level. Hotels With hotel we don’t have that much personal experience. We heard Hotel los Arcos is reasonably priced (close to Capistrano Playa on the N340). In the centre there are a few bigger hotels (RIU Monica and Marinas de Nerja on the Playazo beach). Unluckily recently the bigger hotels switched their policy and only offer half- or full-pension, so a lot of hotel guests hardly come out of their hotel anymore. In the mountains between Torrox and Frigiliana there is a special hotel ‘Hotel los Caracoles’ (which means ‘snails’). The houses have special shapes in the form of – you probably already guessed – snails. A little cheaper than the hotels are the various hostels, where you go out to get your own breakfast. Bed & Breakfasts (B&B) are more common furhter inland and are often ran by foreigners. For exceptional hotels in Andalusia: www.elizawashere.nl Paradores In Spain there’re about 90 special Paradore hotels (in total 10.000 beds!). These hotels are situated in historical buildings like monasteries, palaces and castles. They are owned by the state so this system offers a perfect way to keep these buildings more or less profitable. At the same time Spain’s legacy can be enjoyed up close by by many visitors. They vary from 3 to 5 stars and the prices are between 90 and 200 euros a night. Not really cheap, but indeed unique. You can travel through the whole country from one Parador to the other, because the longest distance between them is 500 km. You need to make your reservation long before, because the Paradores are very popular. Nerja has its own Parador. Unluckily this one is not very pretty or even old, but it has a beautiful location with views over Burriana Playa. Camping site In Maro – a small village that belongs to Nerja – lies a small camping site: ‘Camping Maro’. You won’t find a lot of grass, but the site is nice, clean and cheap. There’s also a swimming pool and a bar. Distance to the caves is 1 km and to Nerja it’s 4 km. Of course it’s always best to make a reservation and we probably don't have to point out that it can get really hot in summer (tel. 0034 - 952 529 714). There’s also a camping site in Torrox and one in La Herradura. |
