Going out in Nerja |
 | |
There’s definitely no lack of restaurants and (tapas) bars in Nerja and for all kinds of people there’s a place to go. In the summer it’s lively on the boulevard of Burriana Playa and in the center you discover a restaurant or bar in every street. If you want it to be really Spanish: go to Bar El Molino (Calle San José), where there’s live Spanish music every evening from about 23:00 (a lovely little ceremony: at 00:00 the lights go off and they sing for the statue of Virgen Mary that is hanging on the wall). In summer they sometimes have live music in the Verano Azul Park. And on Plaza de los Cangrejos (where our restaurant Bagels & Tapas is situated) there is a special program for young and old every July and August with music, kids activities and an open-air cinema. Live music is also played in the relaxed bar of Papagayo on the Calahonda beach, left of the Balcony of Europe. There are 2 restaurants which do flamenco shows, but during high season you’ll also find live shows in other restaurants like on Burriana Beach. (See for a listing of live music free magazines such as Soltalk.)
Starting from eleven at night people start going towards Plaza Tutti Frutti, the night life square of Nerja. In this care free square between Calle Chaparil and Avenida Castilla Perez there’s about 10 disco bars with terraces. In the next street Calle Antonio Million, there are more bars (this street is closed at night, so don’t park here). Until about 3 o’clock everybody has a good time in the bars on Tutti Frutti and for those who just can’t get enough, they can go on to the discotheques of Jimmy’s, Hozono, Narixa or Coconuts which stay open until the early morning (they charge admission, but mostly a drink is already included). Especially in high season Tutti Frutti is open 7 days a week. The music scale forms a mixture of house, Spanish hits and ‘reggaeton’ (a mixture of reggae, latin, hip-hop and pop music, which is very popular with the Spanish youth).
At night you’ll find taxis in Avenida Castilla Perez that charge reasonable fares, (within Nerja about 7 euros), but if it’s really busy you'll probably have to wait for a long time or have to walk home. - Culture lovers can have a look into the program of the Cultural Centre in Calle Granada. - Dance clubs: Dance Club Candela 952 522 252, Nerja Dance Club 952 523 599
