Nerja is the most eastern town of the Costa del Sol and also from the province of Malaga. Spain has 17 autonomous parts with their own government and they all are divided in provinces. East from Nerja the less touristy Costa Tropical starts which has a lot of greenhouses.

Nerja lies 52 kilometres from Malaga and you can get there via the N340 coast road (1,5 hours) of the A7 highway (50 minutes). The highway ends towards La Herradura and becomes the N340 again. The new highway towards Granada is being completed bit by bit. Once this is finished, the journey from Nerja to Granada will probably only take 1 hour, instead of 1.5 hours now.

On 1.5 hours drive the city of Granada is situated. This is east to Motril and from there (just after Salobreña) lies the highway to the north; a beautiful ride through the Sierra Nevada, where you can ski almost the whole year. So ideal for a varieted holiday.

They say the climate of Nerja and Torrox is the best in Europe. This area has a sub climate because it is sheltered and protected by the mountains. In summer it’s a few degrees cooler and in winter it’s a little warmer.
